Synopsis:
Growing up in Saudi Arabia, Fahad Alruale was constantly
surrounded by his parents and eight siblings. Help was never hard to come by—he
always had someone to reach to and do things for him when needed.
Two years ago, however, all that changed. Alruale made the
decision to leave Saudi Arabia and come study in America. Now a sophomore at
WKU, Alruale has been forced to learn what it means to be an independent adult.
“It’s kind of really tough…I used to rely on my brothers, but since I came here
there’s no brother. It’s just me.”
It is through his passion for breakdancing that Alruale has
managed to find a relief as he goes through this transition. Despite the
disapproval of his parents and others from his country, his life as “Bboy
Peruzzi” has become a key player in helping him find his manhood. “Dancing
helped me a lot in trying to be who I am. I’m trying to gain confidence in
myself and take care of myself because no on else is going to take care of me.”
